Do you ever feel like you’re just not learning much anymore? It might be because you’ve been in school too long or that you’ve become complacent in your studies.

In this article, I’ll give you 7 simple steps to help you stay motivated and keep learning throughout your academic career.

STEP 1: Be Realistic

Don’t compare yourself to others. This isn’t how you’ll be successful. Instead, set goals for yourself based on what you know you can accomplish and work towards them.

STEP 2: Focus on What You Can Control

What do you control? What can you change? If you can only control the things you can’t control, then you’ll never be able to make any progress.

Instead, focus on the things you can actually change. Change your attitude and approach to the subject you’re studying.

STEP 3: Have Fun with it

When you’re having fun, you learn faster. So find something you love and do it as much as possible.

STEP 4: Set SMART Goals

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound. This helps you set goals that are easy to understand, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound.

STEP 5: Read and Read Some More

Reading helps you improve your memory and makes you a better student. Read at least one book a month and spend at least two hours per week reading.

STEP 6: Stay Focused

Do you remember how you were the first time you tried to play the piano? It was hard. But once you started practicing, it got easier and easier and then you realized you were actually good at it.

You can’t learn if you don’t practice. So start studying, start reading, and then start learning.

STEP 7: Set SMART Goals

This step is similar to the previous one. But instead of focusing on the time you need to complete a task, focus on the results you want to achieve.

For example, “I want to be able to read a book in three months.” Instead of thinking about when you’ll finish, think about what you’ll learn. This will make it easier to get back on track when you fall behind.
